A Moment with Spring…

My name is Spring (yes, I’m named after the season). I am, first and foremost, a follower of Jesus Christ. Second, the wife of a husband who I adore, Jason. Third, the mamma of a precious “peanut". And fourth, a gal who loves to cook. What inspired this blog? My friend and cousin, Hannah… AND my love to cook and be creative!

I grew up in a single-parent home with a tough father who breathes the outdoors. He cooked for us, yes, but threw together meals like Mac’N’Cheese, hot dogs, beans, and Superman Soup- which (in case you’re wondering) consists of whatever cans he discovers in the cupboard, dumped into a pot and boiled. Yum, right? Well, as a child, I never complained! But when I moved out of the house I began to explore an incredible world of undiscovered flavors.

My grandma is an amazing woman of God, wife, mother and cook. She’s my mother-figure and I have always aspired to be like her. Her love for cooking and expertise at the task fueled my desire to learn how to cook.

I love my family. Cooking delicious meals is a way I can show them that. I’m no expert. Cooking takes practice, right? You try, you fail, sometimes you succeed. We’re not rich (monetarily). With my meals I strive to be cost-efficient. I don’t claim to be a gourmet chef or the best at the task (my biased husband might argue…), but I want to share my journey of diving deeper with you. Thanks for joining us!

A Moment with Hannah...

Hi! My name is Hannah and I have recently discovered my love for cooking. I cook for my husband (a super amazing middle school teacher) and our toddler. I also have a beautiful baby girl who currently thinks puffs are the best thing on earth and refuses to eat mushy green beans.

Cooking for adults and toddlers can be a challenge, but I love watching our two-year-old taste and enjoy new flavors. Recently, I made a dish with raw kale. As my husband voiced his disgust with the dish, my two-year-old said, quite frankly, “Just eat it, dad. It’s real good”.

Growing up my mother cooked almost every meal for our family (my dad made some delicious Sunday lunches). She is southern, so the meals were super delicious and she always made cooking look easy. I learned a lot about hospitality from my mother and have come to realize that cooking is a great way to make people feel welcome and loved when they visit.

My cooking improves with each day, and I hope this blog helps you and me learn more about the craft of cooking. I am excited to share recipes, cookbooks and tips that have helped me be successful in the kitchen. I hope you enjoy!
